When his mother tragically passes away from a heroin overdose, 17-year-old Joshua "J" Cody finds himself seeking refuge with his unconventional family members in a vibrant beach town in Southern California. Leading this close-knit group is the resilient and formidable matriarch known as Janine "Smurf" Cody, alongside Baz, the authoritative figure who manages the family's affairs. The Cody clan is further comprised of Pope, the eldest and most menacing of the siblings; Craig, the bold and adventurous middle child; and Deran, the youngest member grappling with inner turmoil and distrust.
