Tell Spring Not to Come This Year (2015)

After NATO forces exited Afghanistan, the reins of Helmand Province were handed over to the Afghan National Army (ANA), a treacherous area plagued by relentless attacks from Taliban insurgents. The prospect of establishing security, let alone peace, appears bleak in a nation rife with deep-rooted mistrust among its populace. The filmmakers of this production shadowed a unit of the ANA as they endured a grueling year of service on the frontlines of Helmand. These soldiers receive irregular pay, face shortages of essential provisions, and grapple with inadequate equipment that is ill-suited for combat with the remnants of the ISAF's arsenal.
