Sayonara (1957)

When Air Force Major Lloyd Gruver is transferred to a Japanese air base, he faces the harsh reality of American racial bias towards the Japanese community. The situation escalates as several soldiers engage in relationships with Japanese women, directly opposing military regulations. Known for his strict adherence to rules, Gruver is forced to make a difficult decision when his friend Joe Kelly, a lower-ranking soldier, falls in love with and weds a Japanese woman named Katsumi. Defying the military protocol, Gruver puts his own career at stake by standing as the best man at their wedding.
