Story :

In this film, Hackman takes on the role of a New York academic seeking a fresh start in life. He decides to tie the knot with his girlfriend and relocate to California for a new beginning. While his mother supports his desire for change, she cautions him about the possible impact on his father of moving so far away. Tragedy strikes just before the wedding when the mother passes away. Hackman's sister, who has been shunned by their father for marrying a Jewish man, encourages him to break free from their father's influence and lead his own life.
