Beneath The Leaves (2019)

A group of boys from a small town find themselves in the clutches of James Whitley, a charming yet disturbed individual with a haunting gaze. His disturbing quest to connect orphaned children with their deceased biological parents is thwarted when the boys manage to break free, leading to his arrest. After a decade and a half, Whitley seizes an opportunity to escape during a prison blaze and resolves to complete his unsettling mission. Detective Larson, a survivor of Whitley's past atrocities, is forced to step aside from the investigation due to personal biases, paving the way for his partner and romantic interest, Detective Shotwell, to take charge. Driven by a mix of vengeance and a shot at redemption, Detective Larson embarks on a solo pursuit of the relentless psychopath, only to find himself ensnared once more in the same nightmare that haunted him in his youth.
